Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our esteemed medical team at King Faisal Hospital Kigali. As a leading referral hospital in Rwanda, we are dedicated to providing specialized, patient-centered care, and this role is central to our mission. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for a wide array of duties, including but not limited to, conducting thorough physical examinations, assessing, diagnosing, and treating a spectrum of acute and chronic illnesses. A key aspect of this role involves ordering and accurately interpreting diagnostic tests, such as laboratory results and imaging studies, to formulate precise diagnoses. Subsequently, you will be tasked with developing and meticulously implementing evidence-based treatment plans, which include judiciously prescribing medications, recommending therapies, and coordinating other essential interventions within your scope of practice. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physical assessments, diagnose, and treat common acute and chronic health problems.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests, including laboratory, imaging, and other specialized procedures.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications, therapies, and other interventions within scope of practice.
- Provide patient education on disease prevention, health promotion, and management of chronic conditions.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, registered nurses, and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated and integrated patient care.
- Perform minor procedures as per clinical privileges and training.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient medical records in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical research, and professional development activities.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for other nursing staff and students.
- Advocate for patients' needs and facilitate access to appropriate healthcare services.
Required Skills
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Rwanda.
- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) with a Nurse Practitioner specialization from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 4 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Demonstrated ability to assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic conditions independently.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical practice.
- Fluent in English and Kinyarwanda; French proficiency is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a specialized area such as cardiology, endocrinology, internal medicine, or critical care.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Experience working in a multicultural healthcare environment.
