Mediclinic International is seeking a highly dedicated and compassionate Doctor (General Practitioner) to join our esteemed medical team in Cape Town. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary medical care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic illnesses.
- Conduct thorough patient examinations, assess medical histories, and interpret diagnostic results to formulate accurate diagnoses.
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Order and interpret appropriate laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Prescribe medications responsibly and educate patients on their proper use and potential side effects.
- Collaborate effectively with specialist consultants, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
- Provide emergency medical care as required and participate in on-call rotations.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date patient medical records.
- Educate patients and their families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment options.
- Adhere strictly to medical ethics, professional standards, and all relevant regulatory guidelines (e.g., HPCSA).
- Participate in continuous professional development activities and hospital-led training programs.
Required Skills
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or equivalent medical degree.
- Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- At least 2 years of post-community service/internship clinical experience as a General Practitioner.
- Strong clinical diagnostic and therapeutic skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a patient-centric approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Proficiency in medical record-keeping and electronic health systems.
- Sound ethical judgment and professional conduct.
- Crisis management and emergency response skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate diploma or additional qualifications in a relevant medical field (e.g., Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification.
- Experience working in a private hospital setting.
- Fluency in additional South African official languages.
