Job Description
GraceKennedy Limited is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Produce Distributor to join our dynamic team in Kingston, Jamaica. This pivotal role involves the efficient and timely distribution of fresh agricultural produce from our suppliers to various retail outlets, food service providers, and other clients across the island. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fresh produce, possess strong logistical skills, and be committed to maintaining the highest standards of product quality and customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for ensuring that our produce reaches customers in optimal condition, managing inventory, optimizing delivery routes, and building strong relationships with both suppliers and clients. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the procurement, receiving, storage, and distribution of fresh produce in accordance with company standards and food safety regulations.
- Inspect produce upon arrival and prior to dispatch to ensure quality, freshness, and compliance with order specifications.
- Develop and optimize efficient delivery routes, considering factors such as perishability, traffic, and customer delivery windows.
- Operate and maintain company delivery vehicles safely and responsibly, adhering to all road safety regulations.
- Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with both agricultural suppliers and customer accounts.
- Accurately complete all necessary documentation, including delivery manifests, invoices, and inventory records.
- Monitor inventory levels, minimize waste, and implement strategies for effective stock rotation.
- Address and resolve customer inquiries, concerns, and delivery issues promptly and professionally.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Provide market feedback to the procurement team regarding produce quality, availability, and customer demand.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in distribution, logistics, or a similar role, particularly within the food or agricultural sector.
- Valid Jamaican General Driver's License (truck driver endorsement is a plus).
- Strong knowledge of fresh produce handling, storage, and quality assessment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with suppliers, clients, and colleagues.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and loading produce boxes, often in various weather conditions.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for record-keeping and route planning.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or Associate's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Previous experience specifically with fresh produce distribution.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP) and best practices.
- Familiarity with Kingston's road networks and surrounding parishes.
- Experience with inventory management software or systems.
