Are you a seasoned operations professional with a passion for driving efficiency and quality in agricultural processing? Olam Agri Mozambique is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cashew Processing Plant Supervisor to join our dedicated team in Nampula. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in overseeing the daily operations of our cashew processing facility, ensuring optimal production, adherence to quality standards, and the safety of our workforce. You will lead a diverse team, implementing best practices in processing, machinery maintenance, and inventory management. This position demands a hands-on approach, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement. As a supervisor, you will be responsible for translating production targets into actionable plans, monitoring performance, and troubleshooting operational challenges to meet our output and quality objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all daily operations within the cashew processing plant, including shelling, drying, peeling, grading, and packing.
- Ensure strict adherence to production schedules, quality control standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO), and food safety regulations.
- Lead, mentor, and train a team of processing operators and technicians, fostering a productive and safe work environment.
- Monitor machinery performance, conduct routine inspections, and coordinate with the maintenance team for preventative and corrective actions.
- Manage raw material intake, inventory of processed goods, and accurate record-keeping of production data.
- Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures across the plant.
- Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processing output and reduce waste.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports, analyzing performance metrics and suggesting improvements.
- Collaborate with procurement, quality assurance, and logistics departments to ensure seamless operations from raw material to dispatch.
- Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports and provide constructive feedback.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in agricultural or food processing operations, preferably cashew processing.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot operational issues.
- Solid understanding of quality control and food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP).
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office Suite).
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Industrial Engineering, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Certifications in food safety management (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000).
- Fluency in Portuguese (verbal and written).
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
