Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Government Administrator to join our dedicated team at the Agricultural Marketing Authority (AMA). This crucial role will primarily focus on supporting administrative functions related to agricultural policy implementation, regulatory compliance, and inter-ministerial liaison, with an understanding of broader government frameworks that may touch upon the mines sector where it intersects with agricultural land use or resource allocation. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of administrative processes, facilitating effective communication with various government ministries and departments, and contributing to the strategic objectives of AMA. This position requires an individual with a strong background in public administration, excellent organizational skills, a deep understanding of Zimbabwean government structures, and a passion for agricultural development. You will be responsible for managing official correspondence, preparing detailed reports, coordinating meetings with high-level officials, and providing essential administrative support to senior management. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate official correspondence, including drafting, editing, and distributing letters, memos, and reports to various government ministries and stakeholders.
- Facilitate and organize high-level meetings, workshops, and conferences with representatives from the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Ministry of Mines and Mining Development, other government entities, and private sector partners.
- Prepare comprehensive briefings, presentations, and policy documents for senior management on agricultural and related cross-sectoral issues.
- Maintain an organized system for records management, ensuring compliance with administrative protocols and data protection policies.
- Liaise effectively with relevant government departments and parastatal bodies to ensure seamless administrative processes and timely information exchange.
- Monitor and report on legislative and policy developments pertinent to agricultural marketing and, where relevant, the interface with mining operations.
- Provide administrative support for the implementation and monitoring of agricultural policies and regulatory frameworks.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of budgets, activity reports, and performance reviews as required by government guidelines.
- Ensure all administrative tasks are executed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with AMA's operational procedures and government regulations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in an administrative or liaison role within a government ministry, parastatal, or a public sector-facing organization.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Zimbabwean government administrative procedures and protocols.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong organizational and time management abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven capability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in a relevant field.
- Experience working directly with the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development or the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development.
- Familiarity with agricultural marketing regulations and policies in Zimbabwe.
- Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
