Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Industrial Electrician to join our dynamic maintenance team in Maputo. As an Industrial Electrician at CFM, you will be instrumental in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of our extensive electrical systems across various industrial settings, including port machinery, railway infrastructure, workshops, and administrative buildings. This role demands a proactive individual with a strong understanding of industrial electrical principles, safety standards, and diagnostic techniques. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex electrical equipment and control systems. This includes working with high-voltage systems, PLCs, motor controls, generators, and other specialized industrial electrical components. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to upholding the highest safety protocols. You will be expected to work independently as well as collaboratively with other technicians and engineers, contributing to a safe and productive work environment. This is a critical role that directly impacts the continuity and efficiency of CFM’s vital operations, offering a challenging yet rewarding career path within a leading Mozambican enterprise. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment in industrial settings.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions using various testing devices and schematics, including PLCs and motor control circuits.
  • Install, wire, and test new electrical systems, components, and machinery according to blueprints, specifications, and local electrical codes.
  • Execute preventative maintenance programs for all electrical equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, company policies, and national electrical codes (e.g., NR-10 if applicable, or local Mozambican standards).
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repair work, and inventory of electrical parts.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to optimize system performance and implement improvements.
  • Participate in on-call rotations for emergency electrical repairs as required.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an Industrial Electrician in a heavy industry, manufacturing, or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including three-phase power, motor controls, and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
  • Familiarity with various electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, ammeters, insulation testers).
  • Thorough understanding of electrical safety procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in Portuguese (verbal and written) and basic English comprehension.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical diploma or certification in Industrial Electricity, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with high-voltage systems (above 1000V).
  • Experience in the transportation, logistics, or port operations industry.
  • Knowledge of energy management systems and sustainable electrical practices.
  • Valid driver's license.
