Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and meticulous Customs Broker to join our dynamic team in Kuwait. As a Customs Broker at Agility, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and compliant movement of goods across international borders. This position demands a deep understanding of local and international customs regulations, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to operational excellence. You will be responsible for navigating complex customs procedures, classifying goods, calculating duties and taxes, and acting as a primary liaison between our clients and customs authorities. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process all necessary customs documentation, including declarations, permits, and certificates, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure strict adherence to all Kuwaiti and international customs laws, regulations, and trade agreements.
- Classify goods according to the Harmonized System (HS) codes and determine applicable duties, taxes, and tariffs.
- Liaise effectively with customs authorities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate clearance and resolve any issues.
- Advise clients on customs procedures, requirements, duty rates, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in customs legislation, trade policies, and industry best practices.
- Manage and resolve customs-related discrepancies, appeals, and audits efficiently.
- Provide clear and timely communication to internal teams and clients regarding shipment status and customs clearance progress.
- Maintain accurate records and databases of all customs transactions and related documentation.
- Collaborate with internal logistics, freight, and warehousing teams to optimize supply chain efficiency.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a Customs Broker or in a similar customs clearance role.
- In-depth knowledge of Kuwaiti customs laws, regulations, and import/export procedures.
- Proficiency in customs declaration software and systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both Arabic and English.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Customs Brokerage license or certification.
- Experience with various types of cargo, including specialized goods (e.g., dangerous goods, perishables, project cargo).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Knowledge of regional trade agreements and international Incoterms.
- Experience with ERP systems or specific logistics software.
