Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive procurement strategies for various categories, including raw materials, packaging, MRO, and indirect services, to ensure cost-effectiveness and supply chain efficiency.
- Lead the negotiation of contracts with suppliers, ensuring favourable terms, conditions, and pricing while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Manage supplier relationships, conducting regular performance reviews, and fostering long-term partnerships that drive mutual value.
- Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, and innovation within the procurement function.
- Oversee the entire procurement lifecycle, from sourcing and vendor selection to contract management and order fulfilment.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant company policies, local regulations, and international standards, including ethical sourcing and sustainability practices.
- Mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with production, finance, logistics, and quality assurance departments to align procurement activities with business needs.
- Monitor market trends, supply chain risks, and emerging technologies to inform strategic procurement decisions.
- Prepare and present procurement reports, forecasts, and performance metrics to senior management.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable experience in strategic procurement and supply chain management, preferably in a leadership role.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills with a proven track record of achieving favourable outcomes.
- Proficiency in procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities with a data-driven approach.
- Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities, with experience in mentoring and developing staff.
- Solid understanding of supply chain logistics, inventory management, and vendor relationship management best practices.
- High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and commitment to corporate governance.
- Advanced communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) or equivalent.
- Experience in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) or beverage manufacturing industry.
- Familiarity with Zimbabwean and regional supply chain networks and regulatory frameworks.
- Proven track record of driving significant cost savings and efficiency improvements in a complex operational environment.
