Job Description

Wild Horizons is seeking a dedicated Tour Operator to join our dynamic team in Victoria Falls. In this pivotal role, you will be the architect of our guests’ dream experiences, from their initial inquiry through to the successful completion of their journey. You will be responsible for designing, booking, and managing a wide array of activities and accommodations, ensuring seamless execution and exceptional service. You’ll be the friendly and knowledgeable voice of Wild Horizons, building rapport and trust with every interaction. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and customize intricate tour itineraries for individual clients and groups, showcasing the best of Victoria Falls and surrounding areas.
  • Manage all aspects of tour bookings, including accommodations, activities, transfers, and special requests, utilizing internal booking systems.
  • Provide expert advice and detailed information to clients on destinations, activities, local culture, safety protocols, and visa requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with local suppliers, lodges, guides, and activity providers to ensure seamless service delivery and competitive rates.
  • Process payments, manage invoices, and maintain accurate financial records for all bookings.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries via email, phone, and in-person, offering exceptional customer service.
  • Handle unforeseen circumstances, logistical challenges, and client complaints efficiently and effectively, finding optimal solutions.
  • Prepare comprehensive tour documentation, including vouchers, itineraries, and client briefings.
  • Stay updated on new tourism products, industry trends, and destination knowledge, particularly within Zimbabwe and Southern Africa.
  • Collaborate closely with the sales, marketing, and operations teams to enhance product offerings and operational efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a Tour Operator or in a similar travel consultancy role.
  • In-depth knowledge of Victoria Falls, Hwange National Park, and other key Zimbabwean tourism destinations.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in travel booking software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making under pressure.
  • Customer-centric approach with a passion for delivering memorable experiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic, multicultural team.
  • Valid driver's license (advantageous for site visits).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Tourism Management, Hospitality, or a related field.
  • Fluency in an additional language (e.g., German, French, Spanish).
  • Experience with a diverse range of international clientele.
  • Knowledge of Southern African regional travel (e.g., Botswana, Zambia).
  • First Aid certification.
