Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Reservoir Engineer to join our dynamic team in Kuwait City. This is a critical role that will contribute significantly to the optimal development and management of Kuwait’s hydrocarbon resources. As a Reservoir Engineer at KOC, you will be instrumental in maximizing recovery from our diverse portfolio of reservoirs, ranging from mature fields to new discoveries. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive reservoir studies, developing detailed simulation models, and providing crucial insights to guide drilling, production, and field development strategies. This role demands a blend of strong analytical skills, deep technical knowledge, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams including geologists, geophysicists, production engineers, and drilling engineers. You will be involved in long-term strategic planning, economic evaluations of development options, and the implementation of advanced reservoir management techniques, including Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) projects. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the longevity and productivity of our assets, driving innovation, and upholding KOC’s reputation for excellence in reservoir management. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed reservoir characterization and performance analysis, including pressure transient analysis, material balance, and decline curve analysis.
  • Develop, calibrate, and maintain dynamic reservoir simulation models (black oil, compositional, thermal) to forecast reservoir performance and optimize production strategies.
  • Perform integrated field studies, including geological, geophysical, petrophysical, and production data integration, to identify infill drilling opportunities, workovers, and EOR potential.
  • Evaluate and recommend optimal well spacing, well trajectories, and completion designs.
  • Monitor and analyze well and field performance, identifying deviations from forecasts and recommending corrective actions.
  • Prepare comprehensive reservoir management plans, including production forecasts, reserves estimation, and economic evaluations for development projects.
  • Participate in peer reviews, technical workshops, and knowledge sharing sessions within the company.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure alignment of reservoir engineering objectives with drilling, production, and geology plans.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of advanced EOR techniques to maximize hydrocarbon recovery.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of in-house technical capabilities.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering)
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in reservoir engineering within the oil and gas industry.
  • Proficiency in commercial reservoir simulation software (e.g., Petrel, ECLIPSE, CMG, INTERSECT).
  • Strong understanding of fluid flow in porous media, petrophysics, geology, and production operations.
  • Experience in reserves estimation, classification, and reporting guidelines (e.g., SPE-PRMS).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, multicultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience with unconventional reservoirs (e.g., heavy oil, shale gas) or complex carbonate reservoirs.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for data analysis and automation.
  • Experience with production optimization software and data analytics platforms.
  • Professional engineering license or chartership.
