Join Chukka Caribbean Adventures as an integral part of our dynamic team, serving as an Experienced Tour Bus Driver! We are seeking a highly professional, customer-focused individual with a passion for Jamaican culture and a commitment to safe transportation. As a Tour Bus Driver, you will be the first and last impression many of our guests have of their Chukka experience. Your primary role will be to safely transport guests to and from various tour sites, resorts, and attractions across Jamaica, ensuring their comfort and adherence to scheduled itineraries. Beyond driving, you will act as a knowledgeable ambassador for Jamaica, sharing insights, stories, and the vibrant spirit of our island. This role requires exceptional driving skills, a strong sense of responsibility, excellent communication, and a friendly, approachable demeanor. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate tour buses, vans, and other assigned vehicles on scheduled routes, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Transport guests punctually to and from hotels, airports, cruise ports, and various Chukka tour locations across Jamaica.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring they are in excellent working condition and reporting any maintenance needs immediately.
- Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the vehicle, both interior and exterior.
- Provide exceptional customer service, warmly greeting guests, assisting with luggage, and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey.
- Act as a knowledgeable and engaging guide, sharing information about local history, culture, landmarks, and Chukka tour offerings.
- Effectively manage passenger manifests, ensuring accurate headcounts and adherence to capacity limits.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with dispatch, tour guides, and other Chukka staff to ensure seamless operations.
- Handle unexpected situations or emergencies with calmness and efficiency, prioritizing guest safety.
- Adhere strictly to all road safety regulations, company protocols, and defensive driving practices.
Required Skills
- Valid Jamaican Heavy Duty Driver's License (Class 4 or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in tourism or public transportation.
- Excellent knowledge of Jamaican road networks, popular tourist destinations, and local regulations.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with diverse groups of people.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and early mornings/late evenings.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to identify and report vehicle issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a tour guide or a strong passion for sharing Jamaican culture and history.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Fluency in additional languages (e.g., Spanish, German, French).
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route optimization.
- A track record of high guest satisfaction scores.
