Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cyber Security Analyst to join our esteemed Information Security team in Johannesburg. Key Responsibilities
- Perform continuous security monitoring of systems, networks, and applications to detect and respond to security incidents in a timely manner.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of security alerts, logs, and other forensic data to identify patterns, root causes, and potential threats.
- Participate in the incident response lifecycle, including containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident analysis.
- Implement and maintain security tools and technologies, including SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability management platforms.
- Contribute to the development, review, and enforcement of security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and assist with penetration testing activities to identify and remediate security weaknesses.
- Provide security awareness training and guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of the latest cyber security threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with IT operations, development teams, and other business units to ensure security is embedded throughout the system lifecycle.
- Generate comprehensive security reports and dashboards for management and technical teams.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Cyber Security Analyst or similar role.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, network protocols, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and cloud security concepts.
- Proficiency with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools (e.g., Splunk, IBM QRadar, Microsoft Sentinel).
- Experience with incident response, threat hunting, and forensic analysis.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management and penetration testing methodologies.
- Knowledge of common attack vectors and mitigation strategies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Relevant security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CEH, GIAC GSEC).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Experience in the financial services industry.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR, POPIA).
- Scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and data analysis.
- Experience with cloud security platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001.
