Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Customs Clearance Agent to join our robust team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As a Customs Clearance Agent at Aramex, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless and compliant movement of goods across international borders. This position demands a comprehensive understanding of customs regulations, import/export procedures, and tariff classifications specific to the UAE and relevant international trade agreements. You will be responsible for preparing, submitting, and processing all necessary documentation for customs clearance, interacting directly with customs officials, and proactively resolving any clearance issues. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, a strong ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate and complete customs declarations and other required documentation for import and export shipments.
- Liaise directly with customs authorities, port officials, and other regulatory bodies to facilitate timely clearance of goods.
- Ensure full compliance with UAE customs laws, regulations, and tariffs, as well as international trade agreements.
- Classify goods according to the Harmonized System (HS) codes and determine applicable duties and taxes.
- Monitor the status of shipments, proactively identify potential delays or issues, and implement effective solutions.
- Communicate effectively with clients, internal teams, and third-party logistics partners regarding shipment status and clearance requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in customs regulations, trade policies, and technological advancements in customs procedures.
- Handle customs inspections, resolve discrepancies, and respond to queries from customs officials.
- Process and manage all related financial transactions, including duties, taxes, and service charges.
- Maintain meticulous records and databases of all customs clearance activities for audit and reporting purposes.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Customs Clearance Agent in the UAE or GCC region.
- In-depth knowledge of UAE customs laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Proficiency in customs clearance software and systems (e.g., Mirsal 2).
- Strong understanding of HS codes, Incoterms, and international trade documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in English and Arabic.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
- Customs broker license or relevant professional certifications.
- Experience with a major freight forwarding or logistics company.
- Additional language proficiency (e.g., Hindi, Urdu, Tagalog).
