Job Description
Africa Improved Foods (AIF) Rwanda is seeking a dedicated and experienced Vocational Training Instructor to join our growing team. This pivotal role involves designing, developing, and delivering comprehensive vocational training programs primarily focused on key technical skills essential for modern food manufacturing and industrial operations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in equipping our employees and potentially local community members with the practical knowledge and expertise required to excel in areas such as food processing technology, quality assurance, industrial maintenance (electrical, mechanical, plumbing), and safety protocols. You will be responsible for creating engaging curricula, conducting hands-on training sessions, assessing learner progress, and fostering a dynamic and supportive learning environment. This role demands a passion for teaching, a strong technical background, and the ability to translate complex concepts into understandable, actionable skills. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and update vocational training curricula and materials in relevant technical fields (e.g., food processing, industrial mechanics, electrical systems, quality control).
- Deliver engaging theoretical and practical training sessions to diverse groups of learners, utilizing a variety of instructional techniques.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of trainee progress, providing constructive feedback and adapting teaching methods as needed.
- Maintain and organize training facilities, equipment, and resources to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
- Mentor and guide trainees, fostering a positive learning experience and encouraging skill development and professional growth.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in food manufacturing and vocational education.
- Collaborate with internal departments to identify training needs and tailor programs to meet operational requirements.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on training activities, outcomes, and trainee performance.
- Ensure all training adheres to AIF's safety standards and quality management systems.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in one or more vocational areas: Food Processing Technology, Industrial Maintenance (Mechanical/Electrical), Quality Control, or Health & Safety.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective training programs.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple training initiatives.
- Proficiency in practical problem-solving and hands-on technical instruction.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree or advanced diploma in Engineering, Food Science, Education, or a related technical field.
- Certification in adult education or vocational training.
- Prior experience as a vocational instructor or corporate trainer in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Familiarity with modern food processing equipment and techniques.
- Proficiency in Kinyarwanda.
- Experience with learning management systems (LMS) or e-learning tools.
