Are you a highly motivated and experienced Agronomist passionate about driving agricultural innovation and sustainability? Seed Co Limited is seeking a dynamic Agronomist to join our dedicated team in Harare, Zimbabwe. This pivotal role involves providing expert agronomic advice, conducting field trials, and supporting our mission to deliver superior crop varieties and enhance farmer productivity across various regions. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the development, evaluation, and promotion of new seed technologies, ensuring their optimal performance under diverse environmental conditions. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and monitor field trials for new and existing crop varieties.
- Provide expert agronomic advice and technical support to farmers, extension workers, and sales teams.
- Conduct comprehensive soil analysis, interpret results, and recommend appropriate soil management practices.
- Identify, diagnose, and recommend solutions for crop diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies.
- Develop and deliver training programs and workshops on best agricultural practices, seed management, and crop protection.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret agricultural data to inform decision-making and product development.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, progress updates, and presentations.
- Stay abreast of the latest agricultural research, technologies, and industry trends.
- Collaborate with research and development teams to ensure product innovation meets market needs.
- Ensure compliance with all agricultural regulations and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, or related agricultural field.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as an Agronomist, preferably within a seed or agricultural input company.
- In-depth knowledge of crop production, soil science, plant pathology, and entomology.
- Proficiency in conducting field trials and data analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively within Zimbabwe.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Agronomy or a related field.
- Experience with various crop types relevant to the Zimbabwean agricultural landscape (e.g., maize, wheat, soy, sorghum).
