Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Lodge Manager to lead the operations of one of our esteemed luxury lodges in the captivating wilderness areas of Zimbabwe, near Victoria Falls. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of lodge operations, ensuring an unparalleled guest experience, managing and developing a dedicated team, maintaining financial performance, and upholding our high standards of service, conservation, and safety. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily lodge operations, including front-of-house, back-of-house, food & beverage, housekeeping, maintenance, and guest activities.
- Ensure the delivery of exceptional guest experiences, anticipating needs and exceeding expectations with personalized and attentive service.
- Lead, motivate, train, and develop a diverse team of lodge staff, fostering a positive, productive, and cohesive work environment.
- Manage lodge budgets, financial reporting, inventory control, and cost management to achieve profitability targets.
- Maintain the highest standards of lodge cleanliness, appearance, and operational readiness, including facilities and equipment.
- Implement and enforce all health, safety, and security protocols to ensure the well-being of guests and staff.
- Foster strong relationships with local communities, suppliers, and conservation partners.
- Act as a brand ambassador for Wilderness Safaris, upholding our values and commitment to conservation and community.
- Handle guest feedback and complaints professionally and efficiently to ensure satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the regional management team on strategic planning, marketing initiatives, and operational improvements.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a senior management role within a luxury lodge or hotel setting.
- Proven leadership and team-building capabilities, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in hospitality management software (PMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working in remote locations and an understanding of the unique challenges.
- Valid driver's license and ability to navigate challenging terrains.
- Deep appreciation for wildlife, conservation, and sustainable tourism.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Tourism, or a related field.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of local Zimbabwean cultures and languages (e.g., Shona, Ndebele).
- Experience with environmental management systems and sustainable practices.
