Job Description

Emmaüs France is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Social and Community Service Worker to join our team in Montreuil. This pivotal role involves providing direct support, guidance, and advocacy for individuals and families experiencing social exclusion, homelessness, or other significant challenges. You will be instrumental in helping beneficiaries navigate complex social systems, access essential services, and achieve greater autonomy and social integration. This position requires a proactive approach to case management, a deep understanding of social issues, and a genuine commitment to empowering others. You will work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, collaborating with internal colleagues, external partners, and community resources to develop and implement personalized support plans. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive social assessments to identify the needs and strengths of individuals and families.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized support plans in collaboration with beneficiaries.
  • Provide guidance and assistance in accessing housing, employment, education, healthcare, and legal services.
  • Offer emotional support, crisis intervention, and advocacy on behalf of beneficiaries.
  • Facilitate group workshops and community activities to promote social inclusion and skill development.
  • Liaise and collaborate with local authorities, social services, partner organizations, and community groups.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, documenting all interactions and progress.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development training.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and improvement of existing programs and services.
  • Uphold the values and principles of Emmaüs France in all interactions and activities.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in social work, community service, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of social exclusion, poverty, and vulnerability issues.
  • Excellent communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in French (written and spoken) is essential.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases effectively.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of the French social security and welfare system.
  • Experience working with specific vulnerable groups (e.g., homeless individuals, refugees, youth at risk).
  • Proficiency in additional languages relevant to migrant populations in France (e.g., Arabic, English, Spanish).
  • Familiarity with community outreach strategies and partnership development.
