Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Production Geologist to join our dynamic team in Tokyo, Japan. This critical role involves optimizing hydrocarbon recovery from existing fields and contributing to the development of new projects. The successful candidate will be instrumental in integrating geological, geophysical, and reservoir engineering data to build comprehensive subsurface models, forecast production, and identify opportunities for well interventions and field development strategies. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, providing expert geological insights to drive efficient and safe operational decisions. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and update detailed geological models for active production fields and development areas, ensuring accuracy and consistency with all available data.
- Integrate well log, core, seismic, and production data to characterize reservoir properties, identify remaining hydrocarbon potential, and reduce subsurface uncertainty.
- Generate and maintain geological maps, cross-sections, and other subsurface interpretations crucial for field development and well planning.
- Collaborate closely with reservoir engineers to forecast production, assess reserves, and optimize field development plans for maximum recovery and economic value.
- Provide comprehensive geological support for drilling operations, including detailed well planning, real-time geosteering, and thorough post-drill evaluation.
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for infill drilling, workovers, and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) initiatives to extend field life and maximize production.
- Participate actively in peer reviews, technical workshops, and present geological findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure strict adherence to industry best practices, company safety standards, and all relevant environmental regulations.
- Mentor junior geologists and contribute to knowledge sharing within the subsurface team.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Production Geologist in the oil and gas industry.
- Proficiency in geological software platforms (e.g., Petrel, DecisionSpace, OpenWorks).
- Strong understanding of reservoir characterization, sedimentology, and structural geology.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate diverse geological and geophysical datasets.
- Experience with well planning, geosteering, and post-drill analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Geology or a related field.
- Experience with deepwater or complex reservoir environments.
- Familiarity with reservoir simulation and production engineering principles.
- Knowledge of Japanese language is a plus.
- Experience with unconventional resources.
