Job Description
As an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Engineer at ABB in Zürich, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying cutting-edge AI/ML solutions that drive innovation across our diverse business units. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement advanced machine learning models and algorithms for various industrial applications, including predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and optimization.
- Collaborate with data scientists and domain experts to define problem statements, gather requirements, and acquire and process necessary datasets.
- Perform extensive data preprocessing, feature engineering, and exploratory data analysis to prepare data for model training.
- Build, train, and evaluate machine learning models, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability, utilizing modern ML frameworks.
- Integrate ML models into existing software systems, industrial platforms, and cloud environments, working closely with software development teams.
- Develop and maintain MLOps pipelines for model deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement in production environments.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI/ML research and apply relevant findings and best practices to ongoing projects.
- Document development processes, models, and results clearly for knowledge sharing, reproducibility, and compliance.
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in Python and relevant ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Keras).
- Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms (e.g., supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning, deep learning architectures).
- Experience with data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).
- Proficiency in MLOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, MLflow, CI/CD).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure ML, AWS SageMaker, Google Cloud AI Platform) for ML model deployment and management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities in a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop).
- Knowledge of industrial automation, robotics, power systems, or other relevant industrial domains.
- Familiarity with distributed computing and real-time data processing frameworks.
- Publications in peer-reviewed AI/ML conferences or journals.
- Experience with Edge AI deployment and optimization for constrained environments.
- Proficiency in German is a plus.
