The Aga Khan Academy Maputo is seeking a highly skilled, innovative, and passionate Educational Technology Specialist to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of learning within our vibrant academic community. This position is central to our commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology effectively into our International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, thereby enhancing teaching methodologies and enriching student learning experiences across all grades. As our EdTech Specialist, you will be the primary resource for faculty, students, and administrative staff, providing expert guidance and practical support in leveraging a wide array of educational technologies. Your key responsibilities will include designing, implementing, and evaluating technology-enhanced pedagogical strategies that align with our inquiry-based learning approach. You will lead comprehensive professional development programs, empowering our educators to creatively and confidently integrate digital tools into their daily teaching practices. Furthermore, you will be instrumental in researching, recommending, and piloting new educational software, hardware, and digital resources, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of our students and teachers. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the integration of educational technologies into the IB curriculum, ensuring alignment with pedagogical goals and Academy standards.
- Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive professional development workshops for faculty and staff on effective use of educational technology tools and strategies.
- Provide expert advice and hands-on support to teachers and students in leveraging technology for teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement new educational software, hardware, and digital resources that enhance learning experiences.
- Support the maintenance and troubleshooting of educational technology equipment and platforms (e.g., learning management systems, interactive whiteboards).
- Collaborate with the IT department to ensure the smooth operation and security of the Academy's educational technology infrastructure.
- Research and stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in educational technology, bringing innovative ideas to the Academy.
- Develop and manage digital content and resources to support teaching and learning.
- Assist in the planning and execution of digital projects and initiatives that advance the Academy's educational mission.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in an educational technology role, preferably within an international school environment.
- Strong understanding of pedagogical principles and how technology can support diverse learning styles.
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (e.g., ManageBac, Google Classroom, Moodle).
- Expertise in a range of educational software and tools (e.g., productivity suites, multimedia creation, coding platforms).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and support adult learners.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Educational Technology, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field.
- Experience with the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum framework.
