Are you an ambitious and experienced Industrial Automation Engineer eager to shape the future of manufacturing and industrial processes? Siemens UK is seeking a talented individual to join our dynamic team in Manchester. This pivotal role involves designing, developing, and implementing advanced automation solutions for a diverse range of industrial clients. You will be instrumental in enhancing operational efficiency, improving safety standards, and driving the digital transformation of manufacturing sites across Great Britain. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement industrial automation solutions using PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial robotics.
  • Configure and program control systems, primarily using Siemens TIA Portal, Step 7, and WinCC.
  • Conduct site surveys, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering design for new and existing automation projects.
  • Perform system integration, testing, commissioning, and validation of automation solutions on client sites, ensuring seamless operation.
  • Provide expert technical support and troubleshooting for operational systems, identifying and resolving issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including project managers, electrical engineers, software developers, and clients, to ensure project success from concept to completion.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including functional specifications, design documents, test plans, and user manuals.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies, industry trends, and best practices in industrial automation, recommending innovative solutions and improvements.
  • Ensure all automation solutions comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations (e.g., ISO 13849), and quality requirements.
  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, and cost estimation to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens TIA Portal, Step 7 is highly preferred).
  • Extensive experience with HMI/SCADA development (e.g., WinCC, Rockwell FactoryTalk View).
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
  • Demonstrable experience in designing, implementing, and commissioning industrial control systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to client sites across Great Britain as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field.
  • Experience with industrial robotics programming and integration (e.g., KUKA, ABB, Fanuc).
  • Knowledge of Industrial IoT (IIoT) platforms and data analytics applications in manufacturing.
  • Project management experience or certifications in an automation context.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal certification, functional safety training).
  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages (e.g., C#, Python) for industrial applications.
