Job Description

CETA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Site Engineer to join our dynamic team in Maputo, Mozambique. This pivotal role involves the direct supervision and technical management of civil engineering projects on-site, ensuring that all construction activities adhere strictly to design specifications, approved drawings, quality standards, and stringent project timelines. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented problem-solver with a strong background in construction management, excellent leadership qualities, and a proven ability to coordinate complex tasks. You will be instrumental in the successful execution of our diverse infrastructure projects, which may range from large-scale earthworks, robust foundation construction, and intricate structural concrete installations to precision finishing works. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage all on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with design drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Monitor progress, quality of work, and site safety, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and prepare detailed progress reports, including photographs and measurements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications, providing guidance to site teams.
  • Identify and resolve technical problems and site issues efficiently, proposing practical solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including method statements, risk assessments, and quality control plans.
  • Manage site resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, to optimize productivity.
  • Conduct quantity surveying and provide input for cost control and budget management.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a Civil Site Engineer or similar role in civil construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, materials, and quality standards.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken).
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registration with the Mozambican Order of Engineers (Ordem dos Engenheiros de Moçambique).
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations in Mozambique.
  • Experience in road construction, bridges, or water infrastructure projects.
  • Valid driver's license.
