Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of public transport operators, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and exceptional customer service.
- Monitor daily operational performance, ensuring strict adherence to schedules, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Respond to and effectively manage operational incidents, emergencies, and disruptions, coordinating promptly with relevant internal and external stakeholders (e.g., emergency services, maintenance teams).
- Implement operational plans and strategies to optimize service delivery, reduce delays, and continuously improve passenger experience.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback, coaching, and training to operational staff to support their professional growth.
- Ensure comprehensive compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations pertinent to public transport operations.
- Prepare accurate operational reports, analyze performance data, and provide actionable insights for continuous process improvement.
- Collaborate proactively with planning, scheduling, and maintenance departments to ensure seamless service integration and operational fluidity.
- Act as a primary point of contact for operational queries and issues, resolving them effectively and promptly to maintain service continuity.
- Manage shift rosters and strategically allocate resources to ensure optimal staffing levels and coverage across all operational periods.
Required Skills
- Proven leadership and team management experience (minimum 4 years) in a demanding operational environment.
- Strong understanding of public transport operations, including logistics, scheduling, and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent problem-solving and decisive decision-making abilities, especially under pressure and in dynamic situations.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in both German and English (oral and written).
- Proficiency in using operational management software and standard office applications (MS Office Suite).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as operational demands require.
- Valid Swiss driver's license (Category B).
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher vocational education (HF) or equivalent qualification in Transport Management, Logistics, or a closely related field.
- Previous experience specifically within rail, tram, or bus operations within a public transport network.
